Work starts on extension to primary school

WORK has started on an extension to St Elphin’s CE Primary School to accommodate even more pupils.
The current building, on Farrell Street, was opened four years ago but due to a rise in demand, three new classrooms, toilets and additional car parking spaces are being put in. Extensions to the reception classrooms and kitchen facilities are also under way.
North West architects Cassidy + Ashton was appointed by Warrington Borough Council and Liverpool Church of England Diocese to design the additions, which are valued at £750,000 and joint funded with support from the school governors.
Preston-based Conlon Construction began on site last month and is approximately a third of the way through.
Mary Cummings, head teacher, said: “We are delighted with the designs that Cassidy + Ashton prepared for us. It is a pleasure working with them and I thoroughly recommend their services. Everyone is looking forward to seeing the finished building.”
