Bishop's pioneering Risley prison project
5:00pm Saturday 28th September 2013 in News
THE Bishop of Warrington visited Risley Prison last week to offer advice on a new pioneering project.
The Belief in Change Programme challenges prisoners to take part in the scheme to change their thinking and behaviour.
It aims to help them develop into people who can make positive contributions to society and desist from offending.
Bishop Richard spent a morning with the prisoners participating in this intensive six month intervention.
The project aims to prepare them for successful community re-integration including obtaining employment on release.
Bishop Richard said: “I was immensely impressed by the level of trust that the participants showed in each other that enabled each of them to share their life stories with each other.
“There was a great deal of openness, mutual support and affirmation of the contributions made in their daily meeting.”
