VIDEO: New Warrington Guardian museum exhibition opens
9:20am Tuesday 24th September 2013 in News
THE new exhibition marking 160 years of history at the Warrington Guardian launched on Friday.
Former and current staff at the paper were invited to celebrate the Hold the Front Page display at Warrington Museum.
It marks the past century and a half of news, complete with extracts from the paper, some of our favourite pictures and videos from some Guardian personalities.
Nicola Priest, editor of the Warrington Guardian, said: “It was lovely to mark the opening of our new exhibition.
“Obviously for our staff, it was wonderful to go down memory lane, but this collection has something everyone would be interested in.
“We really want to thank Warrington Museum for their help in putting this together.
“And we hope as many people as possible come along to take a look at how the paper has changed.”
The display will be open until January and is free.
Visitors can also look through past editions of the paper, check out the former Magistrates’ Court bench and even sit in the Warrington Guardian sofa.
Plus, we will be holding an event for former members of staff in December to reflect and remember their time working at the Guardian before Christmas.
More information will be coming soon.
Our video features Warrington Guardian editor Nicola Priest, fomer commercial features editor Alan Domville and former circulation manager Ron Tomlinson sharing their highlights and memories of working at the paper.
