Police warn parents over 'strange van' near schools
4:27pm Friday 20th September 2013 in News
PARENTS at schools in Appleton were sent a warning on Thursday over reports of a man in a red van taking pictures of children.
Primary schools in the area say they were tipped off by police about the red van.
Information was then passed onto officials at Bridgewater High School.
Officials said police had warned schools to look out for a red van in the area acting suspiciously.
A text message was then sent out to parents at 10.45am.
A spokesman for Bridgewater High School said: “We were notified by our feeder primary schools.
“Police told us about a van and we sent out a text message as a precautionary measure.
“We asked parents to pass any information onto police because they said the red van was acting suspiciously and pictures were being taken of children.”
It is not yet clear if any arrests were made.
A Warrington Borough Coucnil council spokesman said: “The council has been made aware of this and advised that the police should be informed in such instances.”
Anyone with information can call police on 101.
