Row over new home for football team has been resolved
3:00pm Thursday 19th September 2013 in News
A ROW that threatened to see a junior football team fold has been resolved after a new home was found.
Grange FC will now play homes games at Christ Church Primary School, Station Road, Padgate.
The team for 11 and 12-year-olds previously played at New Horizons, a school for children with behaviour problems, on Fallowfield Grove.
It was formerly the site of Longbarn Primary School.
FA rules meant Grange needed a 9-a-side pitch this season, but the school said it could not extend its 7-a-side pitch due to health and safety issues.
As revealed in the Warrington Guardian, the junior team would have folded if a new pitch was not found.
However, the council arranged for facilities at Christ Church to be used, in time for the first game on Saturday.
Gemma Robinson, aged 28, who runs the team, says she is happy with the outcome.
A spokesman said: “The council was unable to accommodate a larger pitch at New Horizons and we are pleased the Grange FC have settled into their new grounds at Christ Church Primary School instead.”
