Warrington clinches fair trade status again
9:16am Tuesday 17th September 2013 in News
WARRINGTON has been made a fair trade borough again it has been confirmed.
It means the town has retained the important recognition it first received in 2006.
Jackie Hancock, chairman of the town’s steering group said: “We have recently heard the good news from the Fairtrade Foundation that Warrington has successfully renewed it’s Fairtrade borough status.
“Every two years the steering group has to send evidence to the Fair trade Foundation of campaigning activities in the borough and also show that the council, schools, churches, businesses and local media are increasing their involvement in using and promoting products that carry the Fair trade Mark. In addition we had to provide an action plan, outlining our aims for the next two years.
“These include organizing a Fair trade wine tasting event and also encouraging more Warrington cafés to offer customers Fair trade sugar sachets with their beverages.”
