Primark to open in December

SHOPPERS will have to wait a little bit longer for a bargain fashion-fix in Golden Square after it was revealed Primark will not be opening until December 5.
Shopping centre bosses announced in November last year the clothes store was coming to Warrington but since then it has been a long wait for residents.
In March bosses said work was set to start on the new store the following month with a launch earmarked for autumn this year but in the last week signs have gone up stating the store would be opened in December.
The popular store is moving into the former Littlewoods and New Look units after the New Look store moved and re-opened in the old Zara unit in February this year.
One irked shopper commented on our website: “I thought it was due to open in April now they are saying work has just begun.
“How much time do they need?
“You could build a house quicker!
“Oh well off to Liverpool for my holiday clothes.”
The empty Primark unit has already led to one casualty in the shopping centre as coffee shop Beoffee closed it’s doors in August with the loss of most of the shops on the Horsemarket Street side being partly blamed.
Ian Cox, Golden Square centre manager, said: “There’s been a huge amount of interest in Primark.
“We’ve been getting lots of enquiries about recruitment and the opening, so I’m very pleased that Primark has confirmed a date.”
A spokesman added the two-storey store will create more than 170 jobs but the recruitment process is yet to be announced.
