Volunteers needed for Poppy appeal

VOLUNTEERS are needed to help collect for the annual Poppy Appeal in Warrington.
The Royal British Legion, based at St James Court on Wilderspool Causway, is look for people to offer two hours of their time to make this year’s appeal the biggest yet.
Julie Dove, community fundraiser for Cheshire, said: “It is a period of intense activity for our volunteers and we need 15 more in Grappenhall to sit at manned poppy stands in the supermarkets for just two hours.
“You need have no military background whatsoever just a strong desire to support our Armed Forces and their families now and for the rest of their lives.”
Every poppy helps The Royal British Legion to support the Armed Forces both past and present and their families and £1.6 million is spent each week on delivering direct practical care and support to members of the Armed Forces community.
More than 40 million poppies will be made and distributed across the country this year and overseas by more than 350,000 collectors, aiming to raise £37million.
