Do you have a business idea ready for lift-off
8:00am Sunday 8th September 2013 in News
A PROGRAMME to help new businesses reach lift-off is launching in Warrington.
And organisers want people with an idea and a passion to succeed to get involved in their innovative approach to making sure start-up companies do not fall by the way side.
The Warrington Lift-Off scheme starts later this month with two free taster sessions at Warrington Town Hall.
Those who decide to take up the free 10 week programme that follows, run by former European Business of the Year winner Harold Sharples and his wife Sylvia, will then meet for one day a week to turn their idea into reality.
He formed the New Business Hatchery company after seeing that too many new businesses were failing, and feeling he had a plan that could help.
He also believes creating businesses that last longer will be of wider benefit to the community in Warrington - creating more sustainable jobs.
The former Bruntwood, Beaverbrooks and Heathcoates man said: “I though that, by stimulating and increasing the number and quality of long-lived businesses, any community could build a solid and resilient foundation of long-term prosperity and jobs.”
Harold and Sylvia are funding and running the programme themselves.
Steve Park, managing director at Warrington & Co, said: “Warrington has a very robust local business economy but new business, and start ups in particular, are vital to maintain that into the future.
“Guidance and mentoring to help individuals turn business ideas into reality and avoid pitfalls along the way is practical, useful and very welcome.
“The New Business Hatchery is a fantastic initiative and one that Warrington & Co. is proud to support.”
There are two introductory events on Wednesday, September 25 between at 10am and 12pm and 6pm and 8pm at the Town Hall.
Delegates can select which session they wish to attend. Then those who wish to progress onto the programme will have a full day workshop each Thursday from October 10 for 8 weeks. This will be held at the International Business Centre, Westbrook.
Anyone interested in attending can e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 442371.
