Glimpse of the future at Spire

THERE was a glimpse of the future at Spire Cheshire Hospital as the first patient used the Stretton Hospital’s new digital mammography machine.
Providing ‘exceptionally sharp’ images with a reduced patient dose, the new machine is expected to make it easier to identify breast cancer as well as reducing the number of recalls and unnecessary biopsies.
Dr John Desmond, consultant radiologist, said: “Digital mammography provides significantly better image quality allowing earlier diagnosis of breast cancer.”
