3:03pm Friday 30th August 2013 in News
A LORRY has shed its load of recycled cans at Lymm interchange.
The HGV overturned at the top of the slip road at the southbound exit at junction 20 of the M6.
Empty metal and steel cans have spilled from the vehicle, according to the Highways Agency.
Petrol has also leaked from the vehicle.
The slip road is closed with drivers advised to avoid the area as there is heavy congestion.
A spokesman for the Highways Agency said the lorry has been recovered but that it will take 'several hours' to clear the spillage.
The incident happened at 12.40pm today, Friday.
Police say that no one was injured and that no other vehicles were involved.
Links to the northbound carriage of the M6, and links to both carriages of the M56 remain open.
Highways officers and police are at the scene directing traffic.
Drivers are advised to use junction 20 of the M6 instead.
