Labour investigation to report back in September

AN investigation into the town’s Labour party has now been completed, the Warrington Guardian understands.
The probe, which was ordered earlier this year, was finished when the man overseeing it, Lord Kennedy, returned to the regional headquarters on Wilderspool Causeway earlier this month to meet party members and councillors.
He was forced to leave an initial hearing in July for personal reasons.
It was called by the party’s national executive following what officials describe as a ‘series of internal incidents and complaints which have damaged the party and brought it into disrepute’.
Members were given 15 minute slots to speak at the hearing, but it is understood many overran their allocations.
In a letter to members sent in June, Iain McNicol, general secretary, said: “We hope that this investigation will be a constructive opportunity to provide the Labour party in Warrington with a fresh start.”
The report is expected to be published in September.
