Blaze at Orford Farm - again
10:29am Tuesday 27th August 2013 in News
FIRE crews were called to a blaze at Orford Farm two months after a pair of teenage arsonists were jailed for ‘destroying a piece of Cheshire’s history’.
The grade II listed building and farm house on School Road, known as Orford Farm, was set alight again last night, Monday, at 10.40pm.
A Cheshire Fire spokesman said: “On arrival crews confirmed the first floor was well alight with several seats on both the first and ground floors of the building.
“Crews inspected the property for some time to check for hot spots and the police were also at this incident.”
Nearby residents said they were ‘sick and tired’ of blazes at the derelict site and the incident had ‘kept everyone up all night’.
A Cheshire Police spokesman confirmed the incident was being treated as arson and house to house enquiries were being made.
A blaze in March 2012 caused more than £500,000 worth of damage to the building and 33 firefighters called to douse the flames.
Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident number 1070 of 26th August or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
