FLOOD defence works at Victoria Park have been highlighted in the Environment Agency’s north west annual flood report.
The North West Regional Flood & Coastal Committee (RFCC) has published its annual report for 2012-13, which included one of the wettest summers on record in the region.
And the works to help reduce the flood risk to more than 2,000 homes and businesses in the borough is also praised.
The committee work for communities in areas at risk of flooding and encourage the Environment Agency to provide help and offer support to get funding for projects like the Mersey flood defence scheme.
Derek Antrobus, chairman of the committee, said: “The year presented a great challenge for all those involved in protecting our communities from flooding. Environment Agency staff seemed to be on permanent 24-hour alert during the second half of the year. The Regional Flood & Coastal Committee must praise the dedication and diligence of these staff.”
The annual report is available from environment-agency.gov.uk.
