Young carers get the VIP treatment at Warrington Wolves
12:30pm Tuesday 13th August 2013 in News
A GROUP of young carers from the borough were treated to a VIP day out courtesy of Warrington Wolves.
The day included tickets for the Wolves versus Wakefield Wildcats match, a meal and the chance to meet Wolves players and staff after the game.
The day was part of a year long partnership between Warrington Wolves and the Co-operative which is aiming to raise £5million to support young carers aged between 14-25, helping them to lead a life of their own outside caring.
David Appleton from the Co-operative store in Grappenhall and who organised the day out, said: ”I am really pleased to have been able to use my connections with Warrington Wolves for such a great cause.
“Once I knew that 68 per cent of young carers experience bullying at school, I just had to do something. This was a way of giving something back to those young people in our society who give so much to others, with little in return.”
