Warning after spate of burglaries in Orford
11:10am Tuesday 13th August 2013 in News
POLICE have issued a warning for residents to keep doors locked after a spate of burglaries in Orford.
Four burglaries have happened in the Willis Street area over the last week with entry gained through unlocked doors and windows, according to officers.
PC Ian Morris, of the Cheshire Police burglary unit, said that opportunists were trying doors and windows to see if they are locked.
Laptops, cash and phones have been taken with no arrests made so far.
“Offenders are quite clearly just trying doors to see if they can get into houses,” said PC Morris.
“They may try 50 and get into three or four, but those three or four can be prevented if people are careful.
“We are urging residents to ensure that all doors and windows are locked, and that valuables are left out of sight.”
Anyone with information on burglaries can call the unit on 101.
