WELL-WISHERS across Warrington sent in their messages of congratulations following the news that the Duchess of Cambridge had given birth to a son, HRH Prince George Alexander Louis.

The third in line to the throne was welcomed into the world at The Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in London on Monday at 4.24pm.

The prince weighed a healthy 8Ib 6oz and is the first child to proud parents William and Catherine.

Presenting the tiny tot to the world on the stairs of the hospital, Catherine said: “It’s very emotional and such a special time.”

As the news broke after weeks of anticipation and waiting - famously dubbed the Great Kate Wait - celebrations broke out across the world.

Royal baby fever quickly spread to Warrington with many people rushing to pass on their congratulations messages to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their new bundle of joy.

Westbrook Old Hall pupil Keira said: “To Kate and William, I hope you have a nice time with the new baby. Congratulations. I know what it is like having a baby because I have a little sister. Babies can cry a lot.”

Classmate Ethan said: “I hope you have fun with your baby. Congratulations, well done William and Kate.”

Jenny Harwood, aged 59, can remember the day the second in line to the throne, William, being born ‘like it was yesterday’.

Jenny, from Orford, said: “It isn’t like today where everyone celebrates stuff on the internet. It was a joyous occasion and just brought everyone together.”

A book of celebration for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is now available at Warrington Town Hall.

Residents are welcome to mark their congratulations in the book which will be on display in the reception until Wednesday, July 24.

Meanwhile Warrington based Limo company, Limo’s North West have announced their intention to name their newest additions to the fleet after the royal baby.

Owner Mike Mason said: “Royal baby fever is gripping the nation and I just thought it would be fun to name one of our baby Bentley cars after the royal baby.”

And theme park Gulliver's is celebrating the birth of the royal baby with a royal discount based on the baby's weight.

Gulliver's is slashing the price of a child tickets to £8.06 after the future king weighed in yesterday at 8lbs 6oz if bought by midnight on Thursday.

An Orford company is offering a free balloon to anyone who had a child sharing the birthday with the Prince of Cambridge.

Poppies Party People, on Orford Road, is asking people to bring in proof of the birthday to pick up the free celebratory balloon.

HUNDREDS of people sent in their name suggestion for baby Cambridge.

Phil Benson suggested the name ‘Kong’ whereas Kevin Mcgrory even went as far as to pick baby Cambridge’s next public appearance.

Kevin said: “Charles Lee Briers Windsor and his first royal engagement will be at Wembley on August 24.”

Tony Marsh decided to opt for a more showbiz approach to the baby’s name suggesting ‘John or Edward? How about Prince Jedward of Warrington?’
