A MUM has been killed and a man and two children are in hospital following a serious accident close to Warrington Hospital.

Police say Donna Davies, aged 41, was killed after she was in a collision with a car.

The Audi A4 left the carriageway near to the railway bridge and collided with a pedestrian who was walking on the pavement.

The driver, a 38-year-old man, was airlifted to Wythenshawe Hospital to be treated for spinal injuries. His condition is not serious according to police, although the extent of his injuries are not known.

Also in the car were two boys, aged four and eight, who were taken to Warrington and Alder Hey Hospital after being cut from the car.

Police say their condition is stable and non life threatening and the eldest boy is expected to be discharged later today.

The crash happened at 6.50pm on Thursday when Mrs Davies, who lived in Warrington all her life, was walking on Lovely Lane.

She leaves behind Paul, her husband of 20 years, and four children aged 17, 16, 13 and 10.

Mrs Davies also leaves behind her mother, two sisters, four brothers and her extended family.

Witnesses reported seeing the emergency services rush to the scene on Thursday.

Patrick Curley, aged 64, lives on Lovely Lane.

Speaking today he said: "My son had come in at around 6.45pm then we saw the ambulance come rushing past a few minutes later.

"Then the police helicopter came flying over from the park.

"You could see flashing blue lights and we knew there had been an accident but we didn't see what happened.

"I've only heard that it was an Audi driver and a woman has been killed."

Any witnesses should call Cheshire Police on 101.
