NEWLY formed alternative rock band SONS are a five-piece unit hoping to headline their local festival.

The band got together earlier this year as frontman James Jennion, aged 17, from Cinnamon Brow, wanted to perform the songs he had written to a live audience.

SONS also comprise of James’ older brother Matt Jennion, 21, on the drums, Culcheth’s Jack Dickinson, 18, and Tom Hancox, 21, playing bass and rhythm guitar respectively.

The fifth member of the band is Jacob Kelly, aged 17, from Cadishead, who plays the key board, a component which helps the student group achieve a similar sound to their musical heroes MGMT, The Shins and Tame Impala.

Having already played a successful local gig at The Lounge, they are scheduled to perform in May at The Roundhouse, Manchester and at Bumper, Liverpool.
