A TALENTED Woolston singer has signed an exclusive record deal with BMG Chrysalis US in LA with one of his songs to be performed by Bonnie Tyler at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden.

Chris Braide, who has lived in LA for the past three years, is no stranger to success having already composed songs for David Guetta, Lana Del Rey and Christina Aguilera to name but a few.

The 40-year-old, who took time out of his recording session with Paloma Faith to speak to the Guardian, credits playing at the Albert Hall in front of 3,000 as a career highlight and feels “blessed to have worked with so many great people”.

The singer’s father, Ken Braide, said: “He always knew he wanted to be a popstar since he was 8-years-old.

“When he was at high school we were called in for a meeting as the teacher was concerned that all he wanted to be was a popstar and apparently this wasn’t a realistic goal but we have always encouraged him”.

The musician, who attended Woolston High School, was snapped up aged 16 and signed to Zonda Music and has never looked back.

Chris, who lives with his wife Olivia and two children Elijah, aged 7, and Sasha, aged 4, has never had a music lesson and even taught himself to play the piano.

The singer said: “Kate Bush was one of my earliest influences and hearing her sing Wuthering Heights made a huge impression on me along with the production on Video Killed The Radio Star. Those records inspired me and fired my imagination”.

Chris co-wrote the song Kill and Run with Sia, which will be included on the soundtrack for the upcoming film from Baz Luhrmann, The Great Gatsby.

Andrew Gould, vice president of creative at BMG Chrysalis US, said: “Chris’ passion for music is pure and unparalleled, and his compositions exude this in their timelessness.

“We are fortunate to be working closely with him and are excited for his continued success.”
