Council to take over health services in the town

WARRINGTON Borough Council will soon be taking over public health services in the town.

From April 1, the council will be in charge of addressing causes of ill-health and lead on promoting healthy lifestyles in the town.

The move is part of the government’s health service reforms and means the team will have a £10m budget to commission services such as sexual health advice, cancer screening programmes and tobacco control.

Clr Pat Wright, executive board member for health, wellbeing and adult social care, said: “Many of our aims and aspirations are the same so it makes sense to pool resources and knowledge for the benefit of the people of Warrington to ensure they lead long, healthy and happy lives.”

nothing will change, all the same staff who originally sat under warrington PCT, then moved into NHS warrington and now the public health section are moving under local authority like every other area!

Is this even a story? these proposals were approved 2 years ago by public health england for public health to be allighned with the main social care provider!!
