Parrys head to Northern Ireland before 20th anniversary
COLIN and Wendy Parry will be visiting Northern Ireland today, the day before the 20th anniversary of their son Tim being killed by an IRA bomb attack.
The pair are accompanied by Clr Mike Hannon as guests of the office of the first minister and deputy first minister to address a meeting of assembly members in Parliament Buildings, Northern Ireland.
They will be discussing the foundation’s work and how the charity’s ‘Survivors for Peace’ programme could be incorporated into the planned development of a multi-million pound Peace Centre in Northern Ireland.
Clr Hannon, who chaired the Warrington and Ireland Reconciliation Enterprise (WIRE), said: “Warrington has been on a unique and remarkable journey during the past 20 years and we have forged strong friendships with many people and organisations and created lasting legacies for future generations.
“It was an honour to be part of the WIRE and to experience how it was able to turn heartbreak and disbelief into hope and reconciliation.”
