A ONE minute’s silence will take place today, Wednesday to mark the 20th anniversary of the IRA attacks on Warrington.

It will take place at 12.27pm and council leader Clr Terry O’Neill and deputy leader Clr Mike Hannon will observe the silence on Bridge Street.

Officers at Cheshire Police will also be involved while staff at the Warrington Guardian will also join the commemoration.

It is part of a week long series of events in the town to mark the attacks which killed Tim Parry and Johnathan Ball and injured dozens of others.

A helpline is still available to help support people during this time.

Mental Health Matters (MHM) will be operating the 24 hour, seven days a week helpline until Monday and the number is 0800 0851720.

The helpline is manned by highly trained and experienced support workers who will use counselling skills to provide support, guidance and information about local services. All calls are confidential.
