Compromise call from Chapelford campaigners

CHAPELFORD group Let Us Park is calling for a compromise after opposing plans for double yellow lines in the area.

The proposals for Boston Boulevard were originally recommended after numerous complaints over cars parking in the cycle lanes rather than their allocated spaces.

But the decision has been deferred until a site visit takes places after angry homeowners have argued there is not adequate parking and it would cause congestion on smaller roads.

Andy Moss from the group said: “The proposer of these restrictions stated there is communal parking for the residents but failed to mention he was referring to the Sainsbury's car park.

“Yet Sainsbury's has already stated directly to a councillor that they have concerns about parking issues when the school opens.

“There are many things such as this that is frustrating residents hence why we have such massive support on this.”

Clr Keith Gleave added: “The cycle provision must be right otherwise the knock on could be like opening Pandora’s box.”

They should have thought about parking before buying a house on the worst planned housing estate in Warrington. Whats the point of cycle lanes if they are always blocked by people too lazy to park their cars in their allocatted parking at the rear of their house. Chapleford - a new word for crap planning!

So many people lock themselves away and expect the council to act in their best interest and then moan when they don't.

Clearly they feel there is a parking problem which will be made worse, so good on them I say.
If only there were more people who stood up for their communities.

How about this for a compromise- sell one of your cars and buy a bike, that way you don't need to worry about parking in the cycle lane but you get to use it for what it was designed for. If not don't moan your being forced out the cycle lanes were planned when you bought your house so common sense should have made you think about where to park when you purchased your home.
