Council approves special needs transport cuts

ALL disabled children who get school transport help will now face an assessment to see how much help they need.

Warrington Borough Council’s executive board approved the move to look at what needs there were for every child who had special educational needs.

Last week the Warrington Guardian reported on concerns from parents about what the changes could mean for them.

But Clr Colin Froggatt (LAB - Poulton South), executive board member for children and young people’s services, said: “There has been no policy change. We did not have an assessment previously to access the child’s needs.

“Right across England most councils have an assessment process.

“This council has decided to apply a process of assessment to ensure any child gets the appropriate transport according to their needs.”

Whats needed here is an assessment on the council to see how many little grey cells they have.

Disabled children are disabled children, Their needs speak for themselves.
