Recycling centres upgraded or closed Recycling centres upgraded or closed

RECYCLING sites across the borough have been boosted or closed.

A total of 15 sites have been upgraded to allow for extra items such as glass bottles, cans, plastic bottles, tetra pak cartons, textiles and shoes to be recycled.

They are: Forge Car Park, Hatton Arms, Sainsbury’s, Church Street, Burtonwood Community Centre, Raven Pub, Warrington Road, Jolly Fallstaff Pub, Tesco, Winwick Road, Davies Way Car Park, Woodlands Pub, Liverpool Road, The Maltings Pub, Old Hall Road, Hoop & Mallet Pub, Callands Road, B & Q Winwick, Delph Lane, General Elliot Pub, Croft, Bents Garden Centre, Warrington Road, Glazebury and Nelsons Quarter Deck Pub, Birchwood

But 10 recycling centres which were less popular have been closed.

The closed sites are: Asda Westbrook, Riverside Retail Park, Walton Hall, Village Hotel, St Joseph’s Club, Winwick Leisure Centre, Marsh Street, Alford Hall, Jolly Thresher and Culcheth Sports Club.

Residents can also take any extra recyclable waste to the Community Recycling Centres at Gatewarth, Woolston and Stockton Heath.

The move on Monday comes as there is one month to go before the fortnightly rubbish collections come into operation.

Residents are reminded if they do not already have a blue bin to order one now.
