THERE were thumbs up all round at Broomfields Junior School after getting top marks in its Ofsted inspection.

The Bridge Lane school in Appleton was given glowing praise from inspectors and made the leap from good to outstanding when it was assessed in January.

The report praised pupils ‘exemplary attitudes towards their learning’ and ‘behaved outstandingly well and look after each other with care and understanding’.

It added: “Pupils say they are proud of their school and their own achievements and parents’ comments and responses show they are overwhelmingly positive about all aspects of the school.”

Head teacher Keith Greenwood said: “As a school we are delighted they have been able to recognise the hard work the whole school team puts in on a consistent basis. We are pleased we have had the opportunity to have that recognised.”
