A GRAPPENHALL chippy has passed with frying colours after being heralded as having the best chippy chips in the north west.

It is the second prize The Big Blue, Knutsford Road, has picked up recently after being rewarded for the best fish and chips in the north west.

The choice chip awards handed them their latest title after topping competition from more than 500 shops.

Following in the footsteps of his parents and grandparents, third generation fryer Phil Geary said the secret to his success is using the best maris piper potatoes.

He said: “This is a huge surprise given we are a relatively new shop and were up against some stiff competition but we put in a lot of effort into establishing a quality business.

“It is a great feeling to know that the customers appreciate it and is great recognition for the whole family and our staff.”
