Top of the range motorbike stolen in Westy

A PASSIONATE motorcyclist has been left devastated after his high end motorcross bike was stolen on Friday.

It was taken from owner Chris McGarr’s home on Newman Street in Westy between 10.30pm and 11pm.

Thieves smashed their way into a locked garage and cut through security chains around the KTM 450SXF.

It is worth around £3,000.

They then removed fencing panels in the garden to escape through a neighbouring property.

Mr McGarr, aged 28, started riding 13 years ago.

He handed out posters of the bike over the weekend and said: “I’m just gutted.

“I’m very passionate and go to ride it at local tracks twice a week.

“That was my only bike - I’d sold my others to buy it.

“If I don’t get it back I won’t be able to ride for two years until I save up enough to buy another one.”

Step mum Faye, aged 55, also lives at the address.

She believes the burglary had been well planned and said: “They must have been watching us and snooping around.

“They were hell bent on getting that bike.

“Riding is all Chris lives for so it’s heartbreaking for him.

“He works hard for him money and he doesn't deserve this.”

Police are investigating. Anyone with information can call them on 101.

They chained it down inside a garage . So I don't think nailing stuff down would work !

It looks like an off road scrambler, I doubt it would be insured, I,m shocked that nobody heard or seen anything as it wasnt that late,
To smash their way in and cut through the chain isnt done silently.

If someone wanted to steal something whether it had a chain or was locked in a alarmed shed they will find a way to take it. . .

Put a advert on eBay incase they try to sell it on there and also on any motor cross forum - there are ltd places to ride so any tracks inform them it will probley be in Scotland or London or in a container heading abroad by now but worth a try to get it returned.

I have heard of people lifting the bikes of the wheels carrying it to a van in the back and off they go or the old looking to buy , test drive then drive off .

Scum if you ask me can not have anything nice these days without people trying to steal it .

Hope you get it back!!!!
