Knifemen raid town newsagents

TWO men armed with knives attempted to rob a newsagents in Warrington.

The attack happened around 7.30pn on February 18 at MnS Newsagents on Martin Avenue.

Police said the men demanded money from the till only for the staff member to refuse to hand it over and push a display stand at the pair.

They left towards Hilden Road.

Officers say the worker was not injured but was left shaken by the ordeal.

Police are currently following up a number of enquiries including CCTV enquiries, forensic enquiries and house-to-house enquiries.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed what happened or may have seen the two offenders fleeing the scene in the direction of Hilden Road to get in touch.

The first offender is described as white and was wearing bright yellow fluorescent trousers and a grey hooded top with a stripe down each arm.

The second offender is described as white, of stocky build and was wearing a grey hooded top, grey jogging bottoms and dark coloured shoes. Both men had their faces covered.

Anyone with any information should call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 784 of 18 February.

People would remember more if it was only a few days ago but its almost a fortnight,

The police couldn't catch a cold, never mind a real criminal ! They are too busy harrassing innocent victims using cameras or mobile phones. As for the Warrington Guardian, i wouldn't even believe the date on it because they print that much rubbish.

They probably had Aspergers Syndrome and will use this as a get out of jail clause because they play on it and won't take responsibility for there actions. we all have choices in life.

newspapers can only inform people when they are given the info themselves, the fact that 2 weeks passed between the incident and the general public being aware of it is due to a delay in letting the paper know. i am sure once the guardian were informed, so too were the public.
