Lorry accident closes motorway slip road
7:42pm Wednesday 27th February 2013 in News
A LORRY has shed its load in Lymm causing traffic nightmares for drivers.
The accident has seen boxes carrying timber thrown onto the road close to the M6.
The HGV was carrying 40 tonnes of timber and has stopped traffic from joining the M6 and travelling north.
Motorists are able to join the M56 though.
The accident happened around 6pm.
A spokesman for the Highways Agency says access to Lymm services has been partially blocked.
He added: "The services are popular with lorry drivers but access from the M56 and northbound M6 is currently blocked. Access is still available from the M6 southbound exit slip.
"Drivers heading to the services from the M56 or northbound M6 are advised to travel northbound up the M6 to junction 21 where they can turn and travel back to access the services."
The lorry has now been removed but the boxes of timber still need to be cleared before the road can fully reopen.
