TWO elderly residents were rescued by firefighters following a flood on Friday night.
They were called to a home on Warrington Road, Glazebury around 11.15pm which became flooded following a burst water main.
The water flooded the ground floor of the property and the residents were rescued by firefighters from Birchwood Fire Station.
Watch manager John Verry, who attended the incident, said: "It was decided that an immediate rescue was needed for the pair who were on the ground floor of the property which was under around a foot and a half of water.
"The crew, who are on-call firefighters at Birchwood Fire Station worked well as a team to get the two occupants out of their home and to safety as there was a threat that the water would rise further."
