Heroin addict guilty of rape

A HEROIN addict has been convicted for raping a woman in Warrington.
David Edgerton, aged 22, formerly of Brick Street in the town centre, was found guilty of rape at Mold Crown Court last week.
He met his victim when drinking in Bank Park in August last year, with them later meeting at a friend’s house.
She had lost her house keys and was concerned about the welfare of her dogs.
Edgerton climbed in through a window and passed the animals out.
They spent the evening drinking together before returning to the victim’s home in the town centre where they had consensual sex.
However, the court heard how Edgerton’s mood changed, putting his hand to her mouth and whispering ‘do you realise I could kill you right now?’ He then raped her, afterwards saying he had injected heroin and cocaine.
The defendant was also convicted for raping a schoolgirl in Wales that same month.
He asked for directions to a pub in a village near Mold, before abducting her and raping her in woodland.
The 14-year-old was able to get messages of ‘help’ and ‘raping me’ to her mum’s Facebook page.
Family found her collapsed in the road following the attack.
Judge Merfyn Hughes QC said he was considering an indefinite sentence for Edgerton, who also attempted to rape a woman in 2009.
However, at that time CPS dropped the case due to a lack of evidence. It will now be asked to explain the decision.
The case has been adjourned for three weeks. Edgerton smiled as he was lead from the dock.
