Vigil to be staged following shooting of Anthony Grainger in Culcheth
10:19am Monday 18th February 2013 in News
Anthony Grainger
FAMILY and friends of a man shot dead by armed police will hold a vigil next month on the anniversary of his death.
Anthony Grainger, aged 36, died from a single shot fired by a police officer at a car park in Culcheth on March 3 last year.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating the circumstances surrounding his death after police said armed officers swooped in a pre-planned operation.
Three men who were accused of plotting a robbery with Mr Grainger were cleared of all charges after a trial in Manchester last September.
The memorial vigil for Mr Grainger, who was from Bolton, will be held on March 3 at 1pm in Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester. The vigil has been organised by the Justice 4 Grainger campaign.
They are calling for the officer who fired the fatal shot to face criminal charges.
The IPCC investigation is continuing and the results are expected to be passed to the Crown Prosecution Service later this year.

Stolen car, places nearby had been robbed with firearms to threaten innocent staff working, not speculating but what business did the deceased have in the area, answer, none. Police response was a split second decision and the end result, potential crime prevented and the result of that, the family want compensation. The man who pulled the trigger, maybe he was right, maybe he was wrong but i sleep safer at night

He refused to do so,
Sat in a stolen car near to a place where an armed robbery was expected to take place,
He had previous for violence and the officer was taking no chances,
He got what he deserved,
END OF STORY.

None of you have any evidence other than speculation yet some of you believe you have the right to determine whether or not his death was right..
So maybe he was up to no good and maybe there was a crime prevented but a man has died here regardless of his crimes, yet comments such as "he got what he deserved" just goes to show how numbed you are to all things except a **** for violent retribution and punishment..
Who on earth do you people think you are???? I despair of this town and it's small minded inhabitants I really do. None of you have any right to prejudge anyone.
