PARENTS and pupils at Great Sankey High School were surprised to hear head teacher Jo Morgan is leaving following the Easter holidays after just 15 months in charge.

A letter was sent home with pupils on Friday saying Mrs Morgan was moving to take up a senior role within Ofsted and deputy head Damian Owen will take over the reins as acting head teacher from April to August.

A letter from governors also said they had started the search for a replacement and were hopeful to have someone in the role by September.

Clr Peter Walker, chair of the governing body, said: “It is with great reluctance that we have accepted the resignation of Mrs Morgan.

“Jo has accepted an exciting and unique opportunity to work with Ofsted and help shape the future of education in this country at a national level.

“We have been very fortunate to have had Jo in place as head teacher as we have achieved a great deal in a very short time. “The governors thank Jo for all her hard work over the last fifteen months and wish her every success in her new role.”

"If you can't teach, become an Ofsted inspector!" How many times must she have heard that?? Her dream has come true. Lucky for us she has not become a real person... an HMI.
