Children travel back in time to Second World War

Jack Joseph Jack Joseph

CHILDREN had to be suddenly evacuated at St Margaret’s Primary School in Orford - as part of activities for lessons on the Second World War.

The evacuation day saw year two pupils at the school on School Road lead out of school while parents sang songs popular during that period.

They then returned to eat spam sandwiches and dig up vegetables for war time recipes like vegetable soup and a sponge cake made without eggs.

Letters to send ‘home’ were also written.
