A SHOP assistant at a Sankey Bridges corner shop refused to hand over cash when threatened by a man carrying a knife.
Police are appealing for witness to the attempted robbery at Sankey Bridges Convenience Store on Liverpool Road.
The incident took place on Friday at around 3.45pm.
Two men, one wielding the knife, entered the shop and demanded the cashier open the till.
Police say he refused to give them any money with the men then running off towards the town centre.
They did not steal anything and no one was injured.
The first man is described as white, in his late teens with a medium build.
He had short dark hair and was wearing a white and navy or black tracksuit top with dark coloured tracksuit bottoms.
He spoke with a Warrington accent and had a distinctive dark patch under his right eye.
The second man is described as white with a medium build.
He was wearing a black tracksuit top with the hood up and had a dark coloured scarf covering his face.
He also spoke with a Warrington accent.
Anyone with any information can call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 585 of February 8.
