Have your say on Westy

Warrington Guardian: Have your say on Westy Have your say on Westy

RESIDENTS can have their say on how £1million should be spent in Westy.

The money has been given to the area, also known as Latchford East, to revitalise the area.

Clr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture at the council, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity so if you have an idea or vision of how Latchford East can put this money to good use, come along to a session and find out more.

“This project puts local people in charge and I’d encourage as many residents as possible to get involved to help shape the future.”

Sessions run at Westy Community Centre either today, Tuesday, between 10am and noon or next Tuesday, February 19, between 6pm and 7pm.

Westy does need lots of improvement, but will it get looked after? It does have a bad reputation. You cant always polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter.

Kingsway House could do with a lick of paint and some general tarting up - its quite an eye sore when driving over Kingsway Bridge.

Farrel St could do with some tarting up too - perhaps some nice flower beds.

I'd love to see the money spent elsewhere too - such as resurfacing roads and filling in pot holes, improving Bridge Foot and acess to Riverside Retail Park/Alban Park.

Roads such as Poplars Ave could do with the pavements reducing, so the parked cars are out of the way and the traffic can keep flowing.

The £1,000,000 could even be spilt equally between all the shops in the Golden Square to use for rent. That way there might be a reduction in shops having to close..
