'Strong' turnout for HS2 meeting in Glazebrook
9:40am Friday 8th February 2013 in News
RESIDENTS in Glazebrook turned out in force to voice their opinions on the HS2 plans at the village’s action group on Monday.
The action group has previously fought off plans to build a motorway through the village more than 20 years ago which would have linked the M6 to the M62.
Chairman Peter Fillery outlined the effect of the railway which would include a viaduct just short of a mile in length and promised that the group would consider all suggestions from residents before the closing date for representations in April.
Councillor Bill Brinksman, one of village’s ward councillors, offered to act as a link between other groups in the Warrington area concerned about the Government’s plan.
And an online petition by Andrew Fogg calling on the Government to review the route through Culcheth has gained more than 200 signatures.
The petition can be signed at epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/45190.
