World record for pillow bid
THERE was no chance of sleeping on the job for staff at a Woolston hotel despite a bountiful supply of pillows.
A total of 20 employees at the Holiday Inn, on Woolston Grange Avenue, did battle with pillow and pillowcase as they tried to help break a Guiness World Record for the most pillows stuffed into pillowcases in one minute.
They were part of the hotel chain’s attempt across its 65 branches in the UK and Ireland to fill more than 9,953 pillows - beating the world record set by the company’s staff last year.
The staff averaged 5.85 pillows filled in the one minute time slot - a total of 117 pillows between them.
And the company smashed their previous record by more than 2,5000 with a total of 12,580 pillowcases filled.
