THE lead singer of a Warrington band on the verge of making it big killed himself over money problems, an inquest heard.

Daniel Stephen Rimmer, talented front man of White Vinyl, was found hanged at his home on Lovely Lane in Bewsey on August 3 last year.

At Warrington Coroner’s Court on Monday it emerged the 25-year-old was about to be evicted over unpaid rent.

Janet Napier, Coroner for Cheshire, said his financial difficulties had caused him ‘great anguish’ and lead to him taking his own life.

Police were alerted after friends had not seen ‘Danny, who also fronted bands The Energy and blues rock group The 66, for a week.

Julia Ruddick, of Goldcliff Close, Callands was the last person to speak to him on July 26.

She said: “I know quite often he didn’t have any money, but he put on a brave, smiling face.

“One day he’d be right down in the dumps and half an hour later he’d put that mask on again.

“I never got the indication he was as desperate as he was.

“He felt there was nobody in the world for him, he said there was no wife for him.

“He was such a lovely lad but he always thought that he’d let everybody down.

“He only seemed truly happy on the stage.”

Dad Steven Rimmer, of Freshwater Close, Great Sankey, told how his son had ‘a huge amount of talent’ both at football as a youngster and then when he started singing aged 17.

The trainee fitness instructor, who worked at Fordton Leisure Centre, did not tell his parents he was struggling for money, instead claiming to work at other gyms.

Mr Rimmer recalled watching his son ‘laughing and joking’ when performing at Warrington Music Festival on July 18 last year.

The two were due to watch a football match together but days later Mr Rimmer was told Daniel had been found.

“There was a terrible shock from which I haven’t recovered, none of us have recovered,” he said.

“Like any parent we’d ask him if everything was ok, we’d put our arms and say are you sure?

“But he would just say - ‘I’m ok dad’.

“We would’ve been there to help him and then we wouldn’t be sat here today.”
