Arpley tip plan turned down by councillors - as it happened
This live event has finished
- Councillors agree to turn down plans to extend the life of Arpley
- 10 opponents - including the MP, councillors and residents - speak against
- Tip owners say council has ignored requests for information
- Legal battle now likely but tip to close in October as it stands
So as it stands Arpley will close in October. But an appeal is likely against tonight's decision meaning a public inquiry is likely in the summer at some stage. Whether it will be resolved before the October deadline is unlikely.
Huge cheers ring out, it's the end of #Arpley— @hannahbargery 30 January 2013
Arpley bosses FCC say the council has been ignoring requests for information since April last year and ignored freedom of information requests.
It looks unlikely this will be the end of it. Get set for some legal rows to come.
So there we have it. Didn't take as long as we might have expected but councillors have turned it down unanimously

The current tip is full and overflowing, it has to be a resounding NO! It is still going to cost the Warrington Community Charge payer loads of money with regard to the containment or the dispersal of the significantly large amounts of the toxic gasses produced by the rotting rubbish from the North West region.
David Mowat is first to speak against the proposal. He asks if whether the tip is really needed and adds homes were bought near the site with the belief it was going to close in 2013.
Slight delay to the start of the meeting. Councillors were given the option to defer after the applicant hit out saying proper procedures had not been followed
But members of the development management committee have voted to plough on
Around 100 members of the public have gathered at the Parr Hall for tonight's meeting
