Charity box thief is jailed

A PROLIFIC offender who stole a charity box could be released from prison within months.

Alan Reid, aged 41, of no fixed address, was jailed for 36 weeks at Warrington Magistrates Court last week for three burglaries committed at businesses across the borough in January.

The burglaries took place at The Causeway in Wilderspool Causeway where a Help for Heroes charity box was stolen, Thelwall Craft Shop in Barley Road and The Three Pigeons in Tanners Lane.

He admitted the offences and will serve half of the sentence.

Let him be freed next week but first take him to a hospital to have his hands amputated. That will end his theiving ways.

He didn't have a fixed address, but now he has in addition to three square meals a bed to sleep on and Prison Officers to look after him. He's moved up into the world. Now to further his education from the boys inside. Oh and hi might, if there is time redeem his crimes and go straight on his release. Although with no fixed address he may just turn back to his old ways. It's a cyclical idea, don't you think?
