Waiting for South Warrington residents to pipe up ...

What a waste of time and expenses. As I believe that the decision has already been made and therefore it will happen whatever we think.

None of the events at the weekend or even an evening - when will the council get it into their thick heads that most working people are at work during the day monday to friday - and most of those cannot take the time to get away from work to look at a rubbish * roadshow, not to mention those who actually travel to work away from Warrington.

I am in favour of the change but people have the right to be PROPERLY consulted.

* interpret "rubbish roadshow" how you will.

You didn't have to wait long nextdoor. This South Warrington resident is 'piping up'. We pay our council tax the same as everyone else and should therefore have the same level of service received by the rest of the town. Warrington Borough Council aren't bothered about anyone living south of the Manchester Ship Canal as has been proved on numerous occasions.

Agree with comments

Poor timing of roadshows

waste of time as decision has been made UNDEMOCRATICALLY by unelected officials.

Time for you to challenge your councillors and actually ask what they are doing for you.

It is going ahead, 1st of March according to my friend who is a binman.

Well at least you're still comminicating with the elctorate on here, Paul, unlike Billy Lines-Rowland and Geoff Settle, who seem to have gone into hiding after Terry O'Neill rejected the Peel Hall Park petition.

This is an absolute Shambles and a slap in the face for the people who go out and vote these idiots into a position of Responsibilty...

I have spent time and effort filling out the online questionaire, Which was an awful document which was clearly desgined to have little scope for expressing the dissatisfaction in fortnightly bin collections....

It would appear the council do not have the common decency to even read through and discuss the findings as the Fortnighly collections were always going to go ahead....there has never ever been a hint of discussion and a "maybe" we "might" be going to fortnightly collections....

even now we can attend the roadshow to help us cope with fortnightly collections....!!!
what.....!!!! the deadline for VOTERS comments has not even passed yet we are already being prepared for fortnightly collections

well get this Labour councillors prepare yourselves for not being voted in at the next ellections......

Thanks NT, yes from time to time I'll post information or comments that I hope will inform (but hopefully not inflame or personalise) the debate.

I have a couple of very simple questions for the politicians:

1. What will happen if the majority of those consulted happen to disagree with the fortnightly bin collections?

2. Will the comments of those consulted be recorded and be open to public view?

I'm piping up aswell....the people of Lymm were never consulted over the new parking charges in the village's car parks, so lack of dialogue is nothing new. Now we are getting fortnightly bin collections whilst other councils in the country are getting Government funding to revert to weekly ones! Is this a crafty plan for the Council to get a handout? I hope we are not going to have the Council Tax increased! I feel sorry for those with smaller bins or larger families...

Your local councillors were involved in the decision(s) weren't they? Perhaps they weren't and it is a decision by the Local Government Officers of the appropriate Council Department. The portfolio holder would undoubtedly have been involved in this decision, bombard them with letters although they have to answer then in a time limit it often doesn't happen. There is always the local Government Ombudsman who should receive your complains.

Those reading this who think that this is a consultation are deluded.

How often have this council had 'consultations' and then completely ignored what the vast majority of people tell them?

SAC_in_Warrington says...
10:32pm Wed 30 Jan 13

It will be nothing less that a propaganda exercise on how to use our bin(s) "properly", how to purchase only what we will safely use in a fortnight. How to compost food waste, even if we don't have a garden. It will not be a consultation about whether we should have the fortnightly bin collections or not. Additionally the Refuse Disposal Operatives will not know how to deal with the additional waste in bin-sacks next to our overflowing bins. Sorry, no please don't have an overflowing bin or they wont empty it at all.

Well done. The governments have succeeded in selling the concept that less and less will cost more and more and we accept it as "inflation and recession" just like black labelling things as bad fuel, cigs, beer, fat so they can tax more. All stick never carrot. Just like fining for over full bins instead of rewarding for recycling. As for the councillors who post on here and who don't. Makes no difference none will ever put thier head inn the block and say ill ensure this doesn't happen. They'll just offer full help with "consultation" wake up people councillors are less use in acting on our behalf than a blamange foundation. They will
However step in at the last minute when a citizen has rallied the troops done all the ground work. Gathered momentum and then say I was on your side all along. Just to get themselves in the paper. Go on any of you, say right now you will ensure this wont happen. I dare you. Otherwise go back in your shells.

The Lymm residents had been asked for their opinions by the elected representatives, but Warrington Concil chose to ignore the overwhelming rejection of the proposed car parking changes. The cart was put before the horse, so we have the changes and may or may not get a say later! It's the same with the bins-put up and shut up!

To put bin bags at the side of a full wheelie bin defeats the object of having a bin at all.
Dogs, Foxes, Cats and rats will have the contents of any bags all over the roads and pavements.
The smaller bins wont last for a fortnight no matter how much you recycle. Larger bins are not being issued. This council does not give a monkeys left nut about your opinion it just likes to say you have been consulted.

Geoff Siddall says...

Fortnightly bin collections have led to a surge in the number of rats and other pests plaguing British homes, a study suggests. Experts claim that the booming rodent population is a “ticking time bomb” as dozens of councils have scaled back or abolished pest control services due to spending cuts.

Now we have Warrington Council adding to the problem with their fortnightly bin collections.

Does that mean that they are going to be encouraging wild life in other places than green spaces? That's outrageous, and it will cause the mass euthanasia little and not so little furry creatures and could cause problems for cats, dogs, guinea pigs and hamsters if any poisoned bait is left around the home. Not sure who to blame, the council, or the past, present or the next government. I could blame the wild-life lobby ...
