Crufts girl's charity effort
A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD who has been selling her own toys to help fund her trip to Crufts has turned her attentions to helping charities after companies came to her aid.
Jess Ward is through to three finals at the world famous dog show but she was left struggling to compete when her grooming table was taken.
A new table costs £130 and she decided to put her Moshi Monsters up for sale to help towards the cost - raising £35 in the process.
Mum Rachel said: “I said to her that she needed to do something to help others too and our local health club - Village Hotel - has agreed to let Jess use their equipment and pool to do a sponsored triathlon.”
She will be running a mile, cycling a mile and completing 20 lengths of the pool on Saturday as part of the fundraiser for herself and her chosen charity St Rocco’s Hospice.
But as word of her plight spread help was at hand from Four Seasons Medical Centre, Beech House Vets and individuals who have already helped Jess beat her target.
Yet Jess is still determined to complete her charity challenge in honour of St Rocco’s Hospice and will be competing in three different items which mean a lot to her - a Warrington Wolves top, a Manchester City hat and her Young Kennel Club (YKC) hoodie.
She will be competing in the Young Kennel Club’s grooming section with her cross breed Twist who was given to her when his owner went into the Army at Easter.
They have also qualified for the Crufts YKC heelwork to music finals and YKC flyball finals.
