Traveller plan turned down

PLANS for a traveller camp in Grappenhall have been turned down by councillors.

Members of the development management committee unanimously agreed to reject an application by the Smith family for two mobile homes to be stationed on the land off Cartridge Lane.

They also wanted to put 10 caravans on the site.

But a large contingent of residents packed the Town Hall on Thursday night to object to the plans.

They said it was not in keeping with the green belt and the increase from the current two caravans to 10was too large considering the location.

Clr Mike Biggin (Grappenhall and Thelwall LD) joined them and also spoke out against the plans.

Congratulations to the campaign group who pointed out the underhand way in which this application was being eased through.
More power to your collective elbow!
