Town's economy is leading the way
BUSINESSES are still backing Warrington as an economic beacon.
That is according to a report by the Centre for Cities, released on Monday which said the borough is one of the few places with the largest relative improvement in ranking.
The town is in the top five in the country for business investment and the top ten for business and enterprise.
And Warrington is in seventh heaven after clinching that spot for the highest employment rate in the country, highest growth in private sector jobs and proportion of private sector to public sector jobs.
Clr Terry O’Neill (LAB - Burtonwood Winwick), leader of the council, said: “We have had a tremendous start to 2013 in terms of regeneration and this is only the beginning of the journey.
“We are laying the foundations for a bright and rewarding future for Warrington and its residents.
“The report also reinforces our message to the investment and business sector – come to Warrington and join in our success. Warrington means business and it does business very well.”
Peter Crompton, chairman of Warrington & Co, the borough’s urban regeneration partnership, said: “Despite the still challenging economic climate, Warrington is again leading the way for the north west and demonstrating the robustness of its economy.”

Any improvement is despite you and your warring junta, O'Neill, not because.”..

We used to be the second best in Britain and now our council "brags" about making the top five/ten (well I suppose it depends which statistic you want to use to try and justify your case).
