Top diplomat drops into town

A TOP Pakistani diplomat dropped in to the town to visit a pensioner at his home.

Noor Mohammed, of Hanover Street, in the town centre was visited by Consul General of Pakistan Ehsanullah Batth.

Mr Mohammed, aged 88, has lived in Warrington since the late 60s and until retirement was an active member of the Warrington Labour Party.

Before arriving in England he served in the British Indian Army and fought the Japanese on the Burma and Malaya Front during the Second World War.

Having discovered Mr Mohammed was now a permanent Warrington resident, the Consul General decided to visit the town to meet him.

Mr Batth expressed his gratitude to Warrington Borough Council and to all the agencies who are caring for the pensioner.
