Ropad closure as work continues on burst water main in Walton

WALTON continues to be affected by a burst water main.

Chester Road was disrupted by the burst earlier this week.

Water remains on the carriageway and United Utilities have sent tankers to the site to draw off the surplus.

Two way traffic lights have been installed at the ‘toast rack bridge’ to try to ease traffic during the road works.

The damaged main supplies the reservoir at Hill Cliffe.

Though the supply was originally turned off by United Utilities, the sudden drop in reservoir levels were impacting on the town’s water supplies so it has now been turned back on.

Engineers are currently installing an overland by-pass which will result in the closure of Hollyhedge Lane until work is complete.
