Stockton Heath, Great Sankey and town centre Blockbuster stores go into administration

Blockbuster latest to go into administration Blockbuster latest to go into administration

DVD rental firm Blockbuster is the latest big name chain to go into administration with three stores in Warrington affected.

The future of stores on School Brow, Westbrook Centre and on Walton Road, Stockton Heath is now in doubt as administrators attempt to find a buyer.

A spokesman could not confirm the number of employees at each store but added on average five members of staff work at each Blockbuster store.

Lee Manning, from Deloitte's Restructuring Services practice, said: "We are working closely with suppliers and employees to ensure the business has the best possible platform to secure a sale, preserve jobs and generate as much value as possible for all creditors.”

The news follows Jessops stores closing last week and uncertainty over jobs at HMV after the music giant also went into administration this week.
